Prof. Dr. med. habil. Peter E. H. Schwarz is President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Professor at the Technical University Dresden. He leads global diabetes prevention and care initiatives, has authored over 370 scientific publications, and is a recognized expert in diabetes policy and research. Prof. Schwarz actively collaborates with the WHO and European diabetes forums, driving innovation and digitalization in diabetes management.
Professor Francesco Rubino is Chair of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant at King’s College Hospital. A leading expert in bariatric/ metabolic surgery, his research demonstrated that gastrointestinal procedures improve type 2 diabetes via mechanisms beyond weight loss—supporting surgery as a treatment and highlighting the gut’s role in metabolic disease. He chaired the Lancet DE Commission that defined Clinical and Pre-Clinical Obesity and led the Diabetes Surgery Summit and the International Consensus Conference on Obesity Stigma. He earned his MD at the Catholic University of Rome, Italy and completed fellowships in minimally invasive surgery at IRCAD-EITS in Strasbourg, Mount Sinai New York, and the Cleveland Clinic. Formerly Chief of GI Metabolic Surgery at Weill Cornell-New York Presbyterian in USA. He was named in TIME100 Health (2025) as one of the world’s most influential people in health. He was knighted by the Italian Republic, received numerous awards and delivered hundreds of lectures globally.
Prof. Ali S. Alzahrani is a consultant endocrinologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre and a Professor of Medicine at Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He was the recipient of the 2015 International Clinician Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), Orlando, Florida and the Ibn Seina Distinction Award from The AACE Gulf Chapter in 2016. He was the Editor-in Chief of the Annals of Saudi Medicine. He is an Editorial Board member of THYROID, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM), JCEM Case Reports and Endocrine. He is an academic editor of the PLOS. Professor Alzahrani has more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, and he has presented more than 150 lectures nationally and internationally. He is a member of the American Thyroid Association Research Committee and the International Thyroid Oncology Group (ITOG). His academic interests are clinical and molecular research in the areas of endocrine oncology and endocrine genetics.
Dr. Hussein Raef is a Consultant Endocrinologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC), Riyadh, where he also serves in Executive Health Medicine and the Organ Transplant Center. A graduate of Aleppo University (1983), he trained in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine, USA, and held academic and clinical posts including Clinical Instructor at Baylor, Head of Diabetes Program at Methodist Hospital, Oak Ridge, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee. He established the first Osteoporosis Center in Oak Ridge in 1995. Since joining KFSHRC in 1999, he has led the Endocrine Section (2004–2007), chaired the Diabetes Committee, Osteoporosis Task Force, and Mortality and Morbidity Committee, and founded Saudi Arabia’s first Neuroendocrine Neoplasm Group. Widely published with over 40 peer-reviewed papers, Dr. Raef is active in national and international societies, with research spanning diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors.
Dr. Khaled Aldahmani is a consultant endocrinologist and chairman of Academic Affairs at STMC and Tawam Hospital. He is also an Ass Professor at CMHS, UAE University. He earned his MBBS from UAE University and completed his internal medicine and endocrinology training in Canada. He also completed a fellowship in pituitary disorders and thyroid cancer. Dr Aldahmani is a past president of the Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes(GAED), scientific chairperson of the Emirates Diabetes and endocrinology Society and a board member of the Arab Thyroid Association. He is also a chairman of the Annual Al-Ain Research Day since 2016. Dr. Aldahmani has special interest in pituitary and thyroid disorders. He has > 30 publications in endocrinology and diabetes.
Dr. Delia Reurean-Pintilei is a consultant diabetologist from Iași, Romania, and Medical Director at Consultmed Medical Center, the country’s first publicly contracted private diabetes center, providing fully reimbursed multidisciplinary care for over 23 years. She serves as Vice-President of the Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases(SRDNBM), Assistant Professor at “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, and member of the Ministry of Health Diabetes Commission in Romania. Dr. Reurean-Pintilei founded the national educational program “How to Put Your Patients on a Pump” - a 16-hour hands-on course on technology in T1DM - training over 600 healthcare professionals and supporting the expansion of Romania’s National Diabetes Technology Network from 5 to 21 centers in four years, honored with the Romanian Healthcare Award for Excellence in Medical Education (2023). She is a frequent invited speaker at national and international conferences, including SRDNBM and EASD technology courses, serves on multiple advisory boards, and has an active record of scientific publications and educational initiatives.
Her achievements have also been recognized with the SRDNBM “Young Diabetologist’s Award” (2020) and “Special Prize” (2022).
Prof. Amir Babiker is a distinguished Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, affiliated with National Guard Health Affairs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He graduated in 1998 from Sudan and underwent his basic and specialist training in the UK from 2002 to 2011. Previously, he served as a Consultant Pediatrician and led the Endocrine service at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, UK. Currently, he heads the Pediatric Endocrine/Oncology service at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital (KASCH) and chairs the research committee's scientific board in the Pediatrics department there. Additionally, since 2019, he has been the deputy chair of the Endocrine Research Committee of the Arab Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ASPED). His research focuses on Diabetes, Endocrine/Oncology, and Neuroendocrinology, particularly growth and water and Na homeostasis, as evidenced by his numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters.
Dr. Angham Almutair is a senoir pediatric endocrinologist with a notable career in clinical practice. She graduated from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1992. In 1996, she obtained both the Arab Board of Pediatrics and MRCP II (UK), followed by her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Genetics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in 1999. Currently, Dr. Almutair works as a senior consultant pediatric endocrinologist at King Abdullah Specialized Children Hospital (MNGHA) and holds the position of Associate Professor of Pediatrics at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS). She is also the Director of the Assessment Committee for the Saudi Pediatric Endocrine Fellowship and serves as a board member of the Saudi Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism. With over 58 publications, including research in high-impact journals and a significant contribution describing a new syndrome linked to a novel gene, Dr. Almutair has made substantial advancements in her field. Her excellence in research has been recognized with an appreciation award from the Diabetes Care Journal for her outstanding paper submission.
Dr Aly B. Khalil is a senior consultant endocrinologist and head of division of Endocrinology at AL Reem Hospital Abu Dhabi, UAE. He graduated from the University of Marseille, France and trained in Internal Medicine at Queen’s University, then in Endocrinology at the university of Toronto Ontario Canada. He is American Board-certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology, Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE), ex- fellow of the American college of endocrinology USA, ex-president of Ontario diabetes association (Canada) and ex-President of the AACE Gulf chapter. He is active in education and research. His publications reflect interest in wide aspects of diabetes and endocrinology with a focus on thyroid disorders as well interventional thyroidology.
Dr. Mohammed Bashir is the Director of the National Diabetes Centre at the Women’s Wellness and Research Centre, part of Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar. He earned his MB BS degree from the University of Khartoum and completed his core medical training in Ireland, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI). Dr. Bashir received his MD degree from University College Dublin in 2011 and is a registered specialist in internal medicine, endocrinology, and diabetes with the Irish Medical Council and the UK General Medical Council. Before moving to Qatar in 2014, he was a Consultant Endocrinologist at South Tipperary General Hospital and Beaumont Hospital in Ireland. His research focuses on diabetes in pregnancy, diabetes during Ramadan, artificial intelligence , biomarkers, and diabetic kidney disease.
Prof Asma Deeb is Chair of Paediatric Endocrinology, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She is the Chair of research ethics committee at the SSMC and a clinical professor at the Gulf University and Khalifa University, UAE. Prof Deeb is the president of the Arab Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ASPED). She is an executive board member at the Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and the International Consortium of paediatric endocrinology. Prof Deeb is an associate editor for Hormone Research in Paediatrics and Pediatric Diabetes and a reviewer for a large number of journals in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. She is a keen researcher with a high number of publications. She trained in the United Kingdom and had an MD degree on growth hormone gene expression from the University of Newcastle upon tyne in 2002. She pursued a career in paediatric endocrinology in Cambridge, UK with special interest in disorders of sexual differentiation. She relocated to the UAE in 2006 where she founded a tertiary Paediatric Endocrine Department.
Professor Aayed Alqahtani is a world-renowned bariatric and minimally invasive surgeon, Professor of Surgery, and Founder of New You Medical Center. He serves as Director of the Obesity Chair at King Saud University and is President of the Saudi Arabian Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (SASMBS). Internationally, he is Vice Chairman of the Bariatric Metabolic Endoscopy Committee at IFSO, President-Elect of the IFSO MENAC chapter, and has held leadership roles in IPEG, PASMBS, and GOSS. Prof. Alqahtani earned his medical degree with honors from King Saud University and completed advanced training at McGill University and Denver, achieving FRCSC and FACS certification. A pioneer in pediatric and endoscopic bariatric surgery, his groundbreaking research has shaped global guidelines, particularly in weight-loss solutions for children and adolescents. With over 600 presentations worldwide, numerous publications, and editorial contributions, Prof. Alqahtani is a leading advocate, innovator, and educator in the field of obesity surgery.
Dr. Al-Salt Omer Al-Toubi is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Nizwa Hospital, Oman. He completed his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne and The Royal Children’s Hospital, Australia. A graduate of Sultan Qaboos University and the Oman Medical Specialty Board, Dr. Al-Toubi is certified by both the OMSB and the Arab Board in Psychiatry. His clinical expertise spans developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He is also pioneering the Dual Disability Clinic, dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of children with chronic medical illnesses such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and sickle cell anemia. Beyond clinical practice, he actively mentors residents and contributes to national efforts in advancing child mental health services across Oman.
Professor Rayaz Malik graduated in Medicine from the University of Aberdeen (1991), obtained MRCP (1996), a PhD from the University of Manchester (1997), and was elected FRCP in 2007. He served as Professor of Medicine and Consultant Physician at the University of Manchester and Central Manchester Teaching Hospitals (2008–2014) and has been Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar since 2014. Prof. Malik is internationally recognized for his work on diabetic and peripheral neuropathy. In 2022, Expertscape ranked him #2 in the UK and #7 worldwide for diabetes complications research. From 2023–2025, Research.com ranked him the #1 medical researcher in Qatar, and in 2024, ScholarGPS listed him #3 globally in diabetic neuropathy and #2 in peripheral neuropathy. He has published over 565 peer-reviewed papers, with an H-index of 98 (Web of Science) and 104 (Google Scholar), and more than 47,000 citations, underscoring his global impact in diabetes research.
Dr. Walid Kaplan is a Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at the American Hospital Dubai and Founder of the Emirates Pediatric Endocrinology Club (EPEC). He earned his medical degree from Damascus University, completed his pediatric residency at Michigan State University, and pursued a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Kaplan brings over 30 years of clinical experience across the U.S. and UAE. He previously served as Chairman of Pediatrics for a decade and held senior leadership roles including Acting Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Tawam Hospital under the SEHA health system. Dr. Kaplan’s research focuses on type 1 diabetes during Ramadan, growth disorders, and calcium and bone metabolism. Widely published and recognized with multiple awards for clinical and leadership excellence, he continues to advance pediatric endocrinology through practice, research, and education.
Dr. Ebaa Al Ozairi is the Chief Medical Officer at Dasman Diabetes Institute and a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Nutrition. She completed her BMSc (Hons) in Molecular Pathology at Dundee University, medical degree at Aberdeen University, and postgraduate training in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Newcastle University, UK. She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where she also completed the Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education. Dr. Al Ozairi is Board-certified as a Physician Nutrition Specialist, a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and serves as Vice Chair of the World Obesity Federation—the first member from the Middle East in this role. She was the first woman to preside over the AACE Gulf Chapter. An accomplished researcher with over 100 publications, 4 book chapters, and 150 presentations, she has received multiple awards, including the Diabetes UK Educational Award and the Amir Gold Medal for e-Technology.
Dr. Amira Nasser Al Kharusi is a Consultant in Obesity Medicine and Medical Biochemistry at the National Diabetes & Endocrine Centre, Royal Hospital, Muscat. She earned her MD from Sultan Qaboos University and pursued advanced training in Internal Medicine and Medical Biochemistry at McGill University, Canada, followed by a Fellowship in Bariatric Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). Dr. Al Kharusi leads the Adult Obesity Sub-Unit, providing specialized care through outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations. She also serves on the board of the Oman Diabetes Association and is faculty for the Duke Online Clinical Nutrition Fellowship, in collaboration with the Morpheus Consortium. A strong advocate for evidence-based and multidisciplinary care, Dr. Al Kharusi is recognized for advancing obesity management and improving patient outcomes in Oman.
Dr. Hanan Said Al Azkawi is a Consultant in Pediatric Endocrinology at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Royal Hospital, Oman. She earned her MD and BSc from Sultan Qaboos University (2000), followed by postgraduate training in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology, including a fellowship at the National Guard Hospital in Saudi Arabia. She is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and holds the Saudi Board certification in Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Al Azkawi leads specialized clinics in pediatric diabetes, bone and mineral health, growth disorders, obesity, and rare endocrine conditions. She has introduced novel therapies for rare disorders in Oman and is actively involved in national guideline development, including the Obesity National Clinical Management Guideline. An active researcher with numerous publications, she also contributes to education and training, supervises OMSB residents, and regularly participates in regional and international conferences.
Dr. Maimoona Juma Al Qanoobi is a Pediatric Endocrinologist at Al Nahdha Hospital, Muscat, where she provides specialized care for children with diabetes, growth disorders, thyroid disease, metabolic bone conditions, and rare endocrine disorders. She completed her pediatric endocrinology fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, training at Temple Street and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospitals in Dublin, gaining extensive experience in advanced diabetes technologies and complex endocrine care. Dr. Al Qanoobi previously trained through the Oman Medical Specialty Board’s pediatric residency program and has over 16 years of clinical experience. She is actively engaged in teaching junior doctors, supervising residents, and contributing to continuous medical education. Her research includes publications and conference presentations on precocious puberty, osteogenesis imperfecta, and pediatric diabetes. She is a member of ASPED, the Oman Diabetes Association, and the Irish Endocrine Society, reflecting her commitment to advancing pediatric endocrine care in Oman.
Dr. Aisha Al Senani is a senior consultant pediatric endocrinologist and head of pediatric endocrinology in NDEC and Royal hospital. Member of several professional societies, both national and international, such as The Oman diabetes Society, Arab Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes(ASPED). Has international links to International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and the European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE). Invited speaker at regional meetings of professional specialty societies, international meetings and symposia. Serves as invited reviewer in national peer-reviewed journals. Published papers in international and local periodicals and journals and supervised few researches pediatric residents. Prepared and Supervised and helped in the writing of & Protocols of management of DKA in Type 1 Diabetes, Management of diabetes in children and youth , acute endocrine emergencies and common chronic endocrine diseases . Dr. Nadia Moosa Ghabish Al Hashmi is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Metabolic and Clinical Genetics Section at the National Genetic Center, Royal Hospital, Oman. She holds an MD from Sultan Qaboos University, MRCPCH (UK), and a fellowship in inborn errors of metabolism and clinical genetics from King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Al Hashmi is President of the Oman Society for Genetic Medicine and a leading figure in advancing genetic services in Oman. She pioneered the establishment of preimplantation genetic diagnosis and advanced prenatal genetic testing services in the country. Actively involved in research, she has authored numerous publications on rare diseases, metabolic disorders, and genetic conditions. Recognized for her clinical excellence and leadership, she plays a pivotal role in training, patient care, and shaping national strategies for genetic medicine and rare disease management.
Dr. Thamer Alessa is a consultant physician and Head of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, and a Clinical Staff at Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. Received the Dr. John P. Bilezikian ISCD Global Leadership Award. Vice President of the Kuwait Osteoporosis Society.
Dr. Salwa Musa is a consultant pediatric endocrinologist at The Medical City for Military and Security Services (MCMSS), Oman. Dr. Salwa holds multiple leadership roles in national and regional pediatric endocrine networks. She served as the General Secretary of the Sudan Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (SSPED), the Clinics’ Supervisor for the Sudan Childhood Diabetes Association (SCDA), and the Head of the Training Committee for the Sudan Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program (SPEFP). Regionally, she is the Deputy Chair of the Education Committee within the Arab Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ASPED) and leads the DSD/CAH Focus Group under the African Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ASPAED). She is also the national coordinator for the Life for a Child (LFAC) program in Sudan. Her special interests include pediatric adrenal disorders and improving diabetes care in resource-limited and humanitarian settings, with active involvement in research, education, advocacy, and training efforts across the region.
Ms. Nasra Nasser Al Harrasi is a certified Diabetes Educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and over 21 years of experience in the healthcare field. She has been serving at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center in Oman for more than 12 years, specializing in diabetes education. Nasra actively participates in annual patient awareness programs, promoting diabetes prevention, self-management, and healthy living. Her dedication to patient empowerment and public health has made her a key contributor to diabetes care and education in Oman.
Ms. Zainab Almusalhi is a certified diabetes educator with Bachelor degree working at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center since 2013. With over 16 years of experience in the healthcare field, she has dedicated her career to supporting and educating patients in diabetes management. Her commitment to improving patient outcomes and raising awareness about diabetes makes her a valuable contributor to both national and international health initiatives.
Ms. Ibtisam Musallam Al Amari is a dedicated diabetes educator who has been working in the field since 2013. With a total of 19 years of experience in healthcare since beginning her career in 2005, she brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to diabetes education and patient care. Her work focuses on empowering patients through education, improving diabetes management outcomes, and participating in public awareness initiatives.
Ms. Haifa Khamis Ail Al Hammadi is a Senior General Nurse at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Royal Hospital, Oman. With over 20 years of clinical experience, she has specialized in diabetes nursing and patient education since 2013. She began her career at the Royal Hospital in 2000, later serving at Al Ghubrah Health Center before moving to the National Diabetes Center, where she currently plays a key role in diabetes care and advanced nursing practice. Ms. Al Hammadi holds a Diploma in General Nursing from the Institute of Health Sciences, Oman (2000). She has pursued extensive professional training, including advanced courses in insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), diabetes education, and patient safety, both locally and regionally. She have been working in the center since 2014, With a strong commitment to improving the lives of individuals living with diabetes, she plays a key role in patient education, lifestyle counseling, and supporting self-management strategies for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. With several years of experience in the field, Moza has contributed to national initiatives focused on diabetes awareness, prevention, and multidisciplinary care. Working in National diabetes and endocrine center since 2014. She is committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to manage their diabetes effectively. Ms. Azza Issa Said Al Harrasi is a professional Diabetes Educator at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center in Muscat, Oman. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Studies from Cardiff University (completed through the Oman Specialized Nursing Institute), she brings over a decade of experience in diabetes education and patient care. Her expertise includes insulin therapy, glucose monitoring, insulin pump management, and patient-centered diabetes self-management. She is skilled in evaluating patient knowledge, addressing barriers, and promoting sustainable lifestyle changes through education and emotional support. Azza has played a leading role in organizing national diabetes awareness campaigns, including World Diabetes Day, and in developing educational booklets and training programs for healthcare professionals. Previously, she served as a General Nurse at the Royal Hospital, Muscat, where she gained extensive clinical and emergency care experience. Ms. Shamsa Ali Al Busaidi is a senior Health Educator at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (NDEC), Oman, specializing in pediatric diabetes care. Ms. Khadija Abdullah Aljabri is a Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Royal Hospital, Oman, with over 20 years of experience in clinical and community nutrition. She holds a BSc in Human Nutrition from Northumbria University, UK, and completed advanced nutrition courses at the University of Nevada, USA, in addition to a Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Oman Institute of Public Health. Since 1999, Ms. Aljabri has specialized in medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, endocrine disorders, weight management, hyperlipidemia, and gestational diabetes. She provides patient-centered counseling, develops care plans, mentors junior staff, and contributes to policy development and education. Her work also extends to WHO-affiliated community nutrition programs. Ms. Khadija Al Amri is a Clinical Dietitian with extensive expertise in diabetes and nutrition care. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics from Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat. She began her career at Nizwa Hospital, where she specialized in ICU, cardiology, metabolic, and gastrointestinal nutrition for three years. For the past 11 years, she has served at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, focusing on diabetes management, carbohydrate counting, insulin pump therapy, obesity, and bariatric nutrition. Ms. Al Amri has trained focal points across Oman, lectured SQU students, and published research as a principal investigator in international journals, including Nutrition (Canada) and Clinical Nutrition ESPEN (UK). A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, she has contributed to Oman’s national diabetes and obesity guidelines. Ms. Muna Said Abdullah Ali Al Ghiethi is an Omani Clinical Dietitian with over 15 years of experience in therapeutic nutrition. She holds a B.Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition from Sultan Qaboos University (2004) and completed extensive clinical training across hospitals in Oman, including Sur, Ibri, Sohar, Al-Nahdha, and Royal Hospital. An active member of the Oman Diabetes Association, Ms. Al Ghiethi has also contributed to NDEC’s governance and wellness committees. Ms. Basma Al Khadouri is a dedicated and highly skilled Podiatrist, holding a Master in Podiatry Practice from La Trobe University (2014). Currently serving as Head of the Diabetic Foot Unit at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Royal Hospital. Her practice is rooted in a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with vascular surgeons, infectious disease experts, diabetologists, wound care nurses, and fellow podiatrists to deliver comprehensive, personalized, evidence-based treatment plans. She is known for her ability to empower patients through education, promoting autonomy and proactive foot health management. She began her career at Khawla Hospital before joining the Diabetic Foot Clinic at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (NDEC) in 2013, where she has since played a vital role in advancing patient care. Her clinical focus includes wound management, neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease assessment, and the prevention and treatment of high-risk conditions such as ulcers and Charcot foot. Renowned for her multidisciplinary approach, Ms. Al-Riyami works closely with healthcare teams to improve outcomes and reduce complications among patients with diabetes. Ms. Alanood Al Masroori is a senior Podiatrist in the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre. She is a Master degree holder in Podiatric Practice from La Trobe University in Australia. Has more than 10 years of experience in High-Risk Diabetic Foot Management in Oman and UAE, working closely with different specialties within a multidisciplinary team. She is a member of the Oman Diabetes Association and has active participations in different health promotion and awareness programs related to diabetic foot management in Oman. She is always committed to providing a patient-centered care and her proficiency in assessing and treating different diabetic foot conditions has enabled her to provide high quality of care to medically and socially complex patients.
